Welcome to Salem Woods Elementary School - Home of the Timber Beasts!

principal Janna DmocholoskApril 2008

Dear Salem Woods families,

WALK-A-THON BRINGS IN MORE THAN $16,000

A HUGE thanks to all who participated and brought in donations.   More than half of the students participated and 50+ students were at, or above the $125 level!  If you haven’t turned in money yet, please do so by the end of the week. Your student will still receive credit and the prizes earned.

Matching donations will be applied to the student and incorporated into total pledges.  If you forgot to note that you had a matching pledge, please contact Maria Adams (monroeadams@aol.com) or Julie Baumgartner (baumgartner89@msn.com) immediately.

Prizes not distributed on the day of the Walk-a-thon are still coming.  These include: t-shirts (forms were sent home at the beginning of the week), popcorn passes, treat bags, carnival passes, and messenger bags.

Our SWE Radio Show hosts drew the winners for the Fire Station lunch out of a hat.  Each student who brought in at least $75 in donations had a chance to win this prize.  The winners are Eric Salinas, Trynton Thompson, Jared Fry, Camille Chism, Danielle Griffis, Loyrn Moore, Efton Chism III, Connor Miller, Caseylee White, and Makayla Lamoreaux.  These students will receive a pizza lunch with Monroe Firefighters and a tour of the Monroe Fire Station!

Congratulations to our Limo Lunch winners; Brooke Walker, Noelle Gregorini, Amelia Martinez, Cameron Hutchinson, Elijah Bowen, and Gunner Hendricks.  These students were our top earners for the Walk-a-thon and brought in a combined total of $2,200.  Please extend a special thanks to these students for their hard work!

Parent Input Forms were sent home April 10.  If you have specific comments regarding your children’s placement for next year, please fill out the form and return it by May 16.  The staff values parent input, but we are not able to accommodate your request for a specific teacher.  Please do not write a teacher’s name on your input form.  The name will be erased, or cut out of the input form.  Your child’s teacher, along with the whole grade level team will balance the next year’s classes by gender, abilities, behaviors, and many other factors.  You will receive a welcome letter in August that tells you which teacher with be your family’s learning partner next year.

Sincerely,
Janna Dmochowsky
Principal

Important Notice About Internet Safety

The best way to protect children from online harm is to keep computers in a family area of the home. Visibility allows parents to look over the students' shoulders without being too oppressive. Young children should have a parental chaperone whenever they are on the Internet. Two sites that discuss these issues and offer advice can be found at www.safekids.com and www.safeteens.com.

Hyperlinks to staff web sites (located on the Staff page) are provided for student and parent convenience, and all staff web sites are hosted by external Internet service providers. Monroe Public Schools assumes no liability for content contained on external service provider sites. Filtering software from one of the providers listed below is recommended to prevent unauthorized access to sites beyond the District's control.
