Enrollment Process
The Monroe School District uses an online process to enroll new students. This process is only for students new to the district, not students transferring from one school to another within the district.
Before beginning the online application, families are advised to gather the required documents (see list below) so they may be uploaded directly into the application. During the application process, you may save as you go; you do not have to complete it all in one sitting. Once completed and submitted online, the application will be sent to the school for approval. Submitted applications will not be approved until all required documents are received by the school.
New Families
If you are a family new to the Monroe School District, begin the registration process by visiting our Online Enrollment page.

Immunization Requirements
Per Washington State law, all students new to the district on or after 08/01/2020 must have received all of the required immunizations. These immunizations must be medically documented and on file with the school before the student can attend. If a student is missing any immunizations, and there is no documentation from a provider, then the student may not start school.
In Washington State, families are required to submit ONE medically‑verified immunization record for school entry. Accepted forms include:
- A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) printed directly from the Washington State Immunization Information System - this is automatically medically verified. Any parent whose student has been immunized in Washington State can access this at MyIR.net. If you do not already have an account, you can create one to access your child’s immunization information.
- A physical CIS form with a healthcare provider’s signature, verifying the information.
- A physical CIS form with attached medical immunization records, verified and signed by school staff.
If your student is coming from another state, an acceptable medically verified immunization record must be one of the following:
- Printed from their state’s immunization registry, OR
- Printed by the office of their licensed health care provider with the provider’s signature and then attached to a Washington State CIS card
More information on Immunization Requirements can be found here
Transportation
If you live within district boundaries and are more than a mile away from your child's assigned school (other than Fryelands Elementary), your child is eligible to ride a school bus. Students who are enrolled and eligible to ride the bus must submit the online request form to be assigned to a bus stop.
Please visit our Transportation Department to learn about bus routes.
Transfers
If you wish to attend a school other than the one to which your neighborhood is assigned, please read more about Requesting a School Transfer.
Home-Based Instruction
If you would like to provide home-based instruction for your child(ren) instead of enrolling in public school, an approved private school, or an extension program of an approved private school, you must file an annual Declaration of Intent to Homeschool form. Learn more here
