Dear Monroe School District Community,
We have a few updates to share on the open superintendent position in our district. In early June, we shared that we had initiated a search for an interim superintendent to serve as the temporary leader of the district with the help of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA). During a special board meeting on July 21, 2022, HYA reviewed the 10 completed applications they received with the board during an executive session. The board further discussed the applicants and publicly announced the following final three candidates: Dr. Marci Larsen, Dr. Marcus Pimpleton, and Mr. Sheldon Rosenkrance. Bios for each candidate can be found at the end of this email.
The next step in the process will be public interviews of the three finalists during a special board meeting this Thursday, July 28 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be hybrid with an in-person and Zoom option. Each interview will last approximately 60 minutes and live Spanish translation will be available.
The community is encouraged to attend in-person or virtually to provide feedback to the board after the interviews. Those attending in person will have Chromebooks available at the district office to submit input. Those attending via Zoom can access input forms here. The forms will not be live until the conclusion of the interviews. The public will have 30 minutes to provide input on all three candidates before the board goes into an executive session to discuss. The board anticipates that they will come out of the executive session to publicly announce the interim superintendent selected.
Because we don't yet know when the selected interim superintendent will be able to officially join the district, we have approved Carl Bruner, a retired superintendent most recently with Mount Vernon School District, to fill in as emergency superintendent beginning today. Bruner will stay on until the chosen interim superintendent officially starts with Monroe School District.
While there are a lot of moving pieces, we remain hopeful in the direction that the district is headed. Once the interim superintendent is selected and in place, we anticipate that will be moving forward with an in-depth search for a long-term superintendent for the Monroe School District. We will be sure to keep our community up to date and are excited to continue to work with you as we choose leaders for our district.
MSD Board President
