MSD Website and Annual Report Receive Top Honors

The Monroe School District (MSD) communications department took home top honors at the Washington School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) annual conference and awards banquet. The WSPRA awards program recognizes creative and effective work in school communications.

The MSD website and the 2017-18 Annual Report both received the distinguished 'Best in Category' award for Washington state school districts with an enrollment less than 10,000 students. In addition, the 2018 Special Safety edition of #WeAreMSD and the 2018 School Program & Operations Levy informational publication both received 'Awards of Excellence.' All award submissions were judged by a panel of communications professionals in Colorado utilizing a rubric designed for specific school communications categories. Judges considered factors such as:

  • Writing style and clarity
  • How design supports the message
  • Effectiveness of the communications tool for the intended audience

"We are so honored to receive 'Best in Category' awards for our website and our annual report," said Marketing and Communications Director Erin Zacharda. "We work hard to make information easily accessible and to keep our community up to date on all of the outstanding things that are happening throughout our district. To be awarded by our peers for these efforts ensures we are sending the very best to our community."
