PPMS First Day Update

PPMS First Day Update

Dear Park Place Middle School families,

First Day of School

All students should log onto their computers and Canvas accounts starting at 8:30 on Wednesday morning, 9/9/20. The PPMS daily schedule can be found here and we will be following the regular Wednesday schedule on the first day of school.

What do I do on the 1st Day?

Check out Park Place's version of the MSD Quick Start Guide to help you navigate all of the online resources! Scan the QR Code to access the quick start guide on your mobile device.

We would like all students to start logging onto their devices, student email, and Canvas Learning Management accounts beginning at 8:30 on Wednesday morning, September 9, 2020, to give you enough time to troubleshoot any connection issues.

What about attendance?

More details to come, but we will be taking attendance daily, at the end of each day, for the class periods that were held on that day.

Also, it is vital for all families to know that schools are obligated to take a "count" of their students within the first four days of school. It is critical that your students attend classes within those first four days of school so we can verify they are enrolled and attending here at Park Place. Please communicate early and often with us if your student is attempting to connect to our Distance Learning Program, but having technical difficulties. (360) 804-4300. Thank you!

When will we see our students' schedules?

Our goal is to have student schedules available for students to view through Family Access on Tuesday afternoon. Start of year schedules during a typical year may go through several changes, and given the unique situation of this particular year there is a high likelihood that student schedules as they sit today might change between now and Tuesday. While we know this is not ideal, we would encourage families and students to check Family access several times throughout the day on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday morning before 8:30 AM, to view the most recent student schedule.

We look forward to kicking off the start of the school year with you!
