Secondary Return to In-Person Learning UPDATES

Secondary Return to In-Person Learning UPDATES

As we look forward to and prepare for our middle and high school students at PPMS, HRMS and MHS to begin returning on Wednesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 15, we wanted to share some more information with you.

Upcoming Independent Learning Days
This Friday, March 26 will be an independent learning day for students as all of our secondary staff will be participating in mandatory safety training to prepare them for returning to in-person teaching and learning. This means there will be no live Zoom classes, no small group meetings, or in-person classes on Friday and teachers will be providing independent learning activities for students to complete on their own.

In addition, April 12, 13 and 16 will also be independent learning days for students. Again, there will be no live instruction, small group meetings, or in-person classes these days and students will be provided independent learning activities.

Student Groups
As we shared earlier, in order to maintain 6 feet of physical distance between students, we are only able hold half of the student body on campus at one time, which is why we are dividing students into two groups.

Half of the students will attend Mondays and Wednesdays in-person from 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. (A group) and the other half (B group) will attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. The first day of in-person learning for the A group will be Wednesday, April 14 and the first day for the B group will be Thursday, April 15.

For now, Fridays will remain as distance learning days just as they are now. Beginning May 21, Fridays will move to in-person learning days and we will rotate who attends from week to week between the A and B groups.

We are working diligently to place students into A/B groups this week and balance schedules. We anticipate sharing specific cohort information with families by Monday, March 29 through Family Access. Thank you for your patience as we work to complete this very large task.

If you do not have a Family Access account, we recommend that you get that set up now, by submitting a request for access here.

Our bus drivers are prepared and excited to transport students to and from school! Our transportation department made a video for families to show the safety precautions they have in place for bus riders, which can be viewed here. If you would like your child to ride the bus to/from school, you must let our transportation department know by filling out this form online. The deadline to request transportation for your child is Monday, March 29 by the end of the business day so that our transportation department has adequate time to plan bus routes.

Bus stop locations and times will be available in Family Access for families who request transportation by Friday, April 9. Families may also use E-Link, which allows families to get real time bus routing information for their students.

We hope you are as excited as we are about returning to school in-person! We know you may have questions and we encourage you to call our school offices, which are now open. We will continue to share more information about logistics in the coming weeks as we get closer to the exciting day that we get to welcome your students back into our schools.
