March 9-13, 2020 is Education Support Professionals Week (formerly called Classified Appreciation Week). This is a designated week each year where we recognize the contributions of our Education Support Professionals throughout our public schools. We value the meaningful work these employees contribute every day, and this week is a great opportunity for us all to show our appreciation for the critical role they play in the success of our district.
Our Education Support Professionals are positive role models to our students day in and day out and play a key role in making our schools great for every child. Whether it's maintaining buildings and grounds, preparing and serving meals, keeping school facilities clean and orderly, assisting in the classroom, providing instructional hours to special education and opportunity gap students, providing information technology and media services, supporting administration, driving our students safely to and from school, or ensuring a secure and healthy environment (and the list goes on!), our Education Support Professionals are essential to the daily operations of our schools.
We invite all of our staff to help celebrate these amazing staff members this week. Whether it's an elbow bump, a thank you note, or a word of encouragement, please let them know how much they are appreciated. You can also recognize one of our classified employees for their contributions to education in our district by nominating them for a Public School Employees of Washington award before March 21, 2020.
Our Education Support Professionals greatly impact the lives of our students every day and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all you do!
