Monroe School District extends a huge congratulations to the four school board directors who were elected by voters in the November 2023 General Election. Although the election results await official certification until November 28, 2023, the data available on the Snohomish County Elections website indicates the success of Jennifer Bumpus, Jeremiah Campbell, James Etzkorn, and Chuck Whitfield in their respective races.
Director Jeremiah Campbell joined the board in February 2021, initially appointed to fill a vacancy left by another director. Subsequently elected by voters in November 2021 to complete the remaining two-year term for District 1, Director Campbell has now secured a successful re-election this November. As the Director of District 1, he is set to serve a four-year term until its conclusion in 2027.
Current Board President Jennifer Bumpus, also appointed in early 2021 to fill a vacant seat, secured election as the District 5 Director in November 2021 to complete the remaining two-year term for District 5. With this November's successful re-election as the Director of District 5, Director Bumpus is poised to serve a four-year term until its expiration in 2027.
Director James Etzkorn was appointed in March 2023 following the resignation of the District 4 Director. Appointed board directors occupy the seat until the subsequent regularly scheduled election. Director Etzkorn, seeking to continue in his role, ran unopposed in the November 2023 General Election. He will now serve the remaining two years of the unexpired term, set to conclude in 2025.
Director Chuck Whitfield, elected as a school board director in the 2019 General Election, has successfully secured another term in the November 2023 General Election. After serving an initial four-year term, Director Whitfield will continue his dedicated service as the Director of District 2 for an additional four years.
The Monroe School District extends its immense gratitude to all the candidates who participated in the election. Their commitment and dedication to the students, families, and staff of Monroe have not gone unnoticed, and the district is appreciative of their willingness to contribute.
