CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Katie Diamond - Library Specialist at Park Place Middle School
Core values exemplified: Student-centered
Ms. Diamond consistently creates a warm and welcoming environment for students in the Park Place library. Recently, I sent a very upset 6th-grader to her with a broken Chromebook. Ms. Diamond took the time to comfort and reassure the student. She also took the time to talk with the student and found they had things in common, which helped to calm the student. Her ability to connect with students is truly exceptional.
Many students seek out Ms. Diamond in the library, whether to talk, or assist with the various projects she has underway. Ms. Diamond is an outstanding library specialist, and she deserves to be recognized for the positive impact she has on our students and school community.
CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Alex Westbrook - Counselor at Monroe High School
Core value exemplified: Student-centered
Alex is truly the definition of student-centered—but the truth is, she shines in all of the district’s core values.
I have three children in the district—one of whom is a graduating senior—so we’ve worked with many counselors over the years. Without question, Alex stands out as the best counselor any of my kids have ever had.
Her ability to connect with students, identify the path that will help them succeed, and then actively support them in putting that plan into action is exceptional. She’s also incredibly knowledgeable and consistently answers questions in a way that’s both helpful and easy to understand. Her warmth and kindness make her approach to counseling especially effective and reassuring—something families truly appreciate when navigating the often complicated high school pathway options. Throughout the process, her communication with parents is clear, timely, and thoughtful.
Alex’s compassion and energy for her role are truly inspiring. Monroe High School is incredibly fortunate to have her, and the students in her alpha are equally lucky to have her in their corner.
