Carissa consistently goes above and beyond, not because it is expected, but because it is simply who she is. She supports students with patience, empathy, and genuine care—whether she is helping them break down a task, encouraging them through a challenge, or celebrating even the smallest win. Her ability to collaborate with teachers is outstanding. Working with her truly feels like having a co-teacher in the classroom. She anticipates what students and staff need, steps in seamlessly, and brings solutions, calm, and positivity to every situation. Our learning environment is stronger, calmer, and more joyful because of her. We are incredibly lucky to have her, and I am grateful every day for the dedication and authenticity she brings to our school community.

Shawna has revamped her classroom to fully integrate all students into the daily routine. She embodies inclusivity with the way she models interactions, celebrates differences, and finds creative ways to discover what students know. She is constantly collaborating with support staff and service providers to find unique ways to support individual students' needs. Each student in her class is growing academically and emotionally. Shawna embodies the belief that all students belong and are capable of high levels of learning.
