Important Topics at Upcoming School Board Meeting

School Board Meeting: May 28, 2024

Dear Monroe School District Community,

We want to inform you of some important topics that will be discussed at our next board meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., and invite you to attend.

One important topic is the renewal of our School Resource Officer (SRO) contract with the Monroe Police Department. Before considering renewing this annual contract, we invite community input. You can share your thoughts with the school board and representatives from the Monroe Police Department during the 'public comment' portion of the meeting. The board will then discuss and consider the contract renewal. The SRO contract will be available for review on the BoardDocs website beginning Friday, May 24.

Another significant topic is a draft Student Personal Electronic Device policy. During a workshop on May 13, the board reviewed feedback from students, staff, and families collected through a ThoughtExchange survey and examined model policies from other districts.

Now, with the goal of adopting a Student Personal Electronic Device policy, the board will discuss two draft policy options at this meeting. These draft policies will be available on the BoardDocs website beginning Friday, May 24. We encourage community members to attend the meeting in person at the District Administration Office or via Zoom to listen to the discussion and share their input during the 'public comment' portion of the meeting.
