We are excited to announce that we are starting an after-school Unified Basketball Club at Monroe High School, supporting our commitment to inclusivity by joining students with and without disabilities on the same team. This club will promote social inclusion through shared basketball training and competition experiences.
Beginning in January, this after-school basketball club will practice 2-3 times a week and will compete against several other local high schools with cooperative basketball teams. For away games, transportation to and from MHS will be provided.
Our goal is to implement a comprehensive Unified Sports program, including various sports, at Monroe High School over the next couple of school years. The current cooperative basketball club will serve as a pilot for the program.
If your high school student is interested in participating, please complete the high school athletic registration process via FinalForms. To ensure eligibility for participation, a sports physical for your student must be completed prior to the start of the season.
Further details, including practice times and the game schedule, will be communicated by MHS Athletic Director Ashley Tuiasosopo to families who have registered their students in the upcoming weeks.
We look forward to an exciting and inclusive basketball season at Monroe High School!
