After conducting interviews earlier this week, the MSD School Board is excited to announce the new junior school board student representative for the 2023-24 school year, Sophia Willett. Sophia attends Monroe High School where she is active in student leadership and track. During her interview, she expressed that she is passionate about bringing student voice to the table and weighing in on district decision making.

Five Monroe School District juniors applied to serve as the student representative on the school board for the 2023-24 school year. Interviews were conducted by Director James Etzkorn, President Jennifer Bumpus, Student Representative Laura Wittenberg, and MSD's Interim Director of Communications, Tamara Krache.

Sophia will be officially sworn in during a school board meeting in September 2023 where she will serve alongside Laura during her junior year and will then move into the senior student representative position when Laura graduates.
