All May nominees are recognized HERE, but only one classified, certificated, and substitute, staff member are selected each month as the Employees of the Month.

Please join us in congratulating our May Employees of the Month!

CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Suzanne Brunn - Paraeducator at Park Place Middle School

suzanne brunn

Core values exemplified: Student-centered

While Mrs. Brunn demonstrates excellence in all core values, she demonstrates super high marks in building connections with our students. I enjoy watching her interact and laugh with our students. While our work is a serious, high-values and "high-stakes" endeavor (certificated and classified alike), it is amazing to see Suzy's relationship-building skills at work when she is seeking ways to help our students feel like they belong and that they can achieve excellence here at Park Place Middle School. Thank you Suzy!

CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Monica Brown - Teacher at Salem Woods Elementary

monica brown

Core value exemplified: Equity & Student-centered
I would like to nominate Monica for her outstanding work in rolling out and refining inclusionary practices over the past two years. Her dedication to student-centered support has been truly impactful. Monica has not only embraced inclusive education but has also honed her craft to ensure that services are more effective, personalized, rigorous, and empowering for the students she serves.

This year, she has taken her commitment a step further—collaborating with colleagues to ensure that every student has what they need to thrive. Her proactive communication, thoughtful planning, and compassionate approach have made her a vital part of our educational community. Monica exemplifies what it means to lead with both heart and skill.

Monica has been at the heart of a transformation of how students at SWE receive their IEP services. The school is now utilizing an inclusion model in which students receive support within their gen ed classroom (whenever possible). This was a massive undertaking and one that took time, energy and an unwaivering belief in the success of ALL students.
