Dear families of the Class of 2028,
We know it’s hard to believe, but the beginning of your child’s high school experience is just around the corner! As we begin planning for the 2024-25 school year and your child’s transition to high school, we wanted to share some important upcoming events that will help you and your child navigate the high school course registration process and prepare for high school.
Future Bearcat Information Night
You are invited to Monroe High School's Future Bearcat Information Night on Wednesday, March 6 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the MHS main gym. This presentation will be given concurrently in Spanish as well in the MHS Performing Arts Center (PAC).
This informational event is intended for all students who will be new to Monroe High School in the 2024-25 school year and their families to learn about the transition to high school, how to get involved, how to navigate the course registration process, and to see many of the great opportunities for students at MHS.
Attendance is highly encouraged as 8th grade students will officially register for their high school courses the following week at school.
From 6:00-6:30 p.m. we will meet in the gym to cover the topics below with our incoming students and families:
- Meet the admin team and counselors
- Learn about the transition from middle to high school
- Learn about our MHS mission and core values
- Learn about the great things happening at MHS
- Hear from students and their experience here at MHS
- Learn about the registration process
From 6:30-8:00 p.m. students and families can check out the school, meet several of our staff members, get questions answered, and learn about many of our programs, sports, activities, clubs, and all of the great things we have to offer here at MHS.
We look forward to meeting you and your students!
Course Registration
MHS counselors will be presenting to current 8th grade students on Zoom, at PPMS on February 27th via science classes and at HRMS on February 28th via health/P.E. classes, to talk about the courses available at MHS, graduation requirements, and the course registration process. Students will bring home a registration worksheet to plan out their 9th grade courses with the help of their families. This planning worksheet will be due back to their teacher by March 6th.
The MHS course catalog and registration information can be found HERE. We know this can be overwhelming for some, so MHS counselors and administrators will be available at the Future Bearcat Info Night on March 6th at MHS to answer students’ and families’ questions about the registration process.
MHS counselors will visit Park Place on March 20th and Hidden River on March 13th to assist all eighth grade students in using their registration planning worksheets to officially submit their 9th grade course requests online through Skyward.
