We are aware that the Monroe Police Department released a 'Request for Information' bulletin today regarding alleged sexual misconduct between a Monroe High School teacher and a student, asking for individuals, including current and former students, to come forward if they have additional information.
We want to assure you that we take these matters very seriously. While allegations are investigated and a determination is made, this teacher is on administrative leave and is prohibited from any contact with students at this time. We are unable to share any additional information about this as it is a personnel matter and an active police investigation.
We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of this matter and encourage our community to do the same. If you have any information related to this, please contact Detective Erdmann at (360) 863-4565, by emailing police@monroewa.gov, or you can submit tips anonymously to the Monroe Police Department tip line at (360) 863-4600.
We understand that this news may be upsetting to some of our students. Our Monroe High School counselors and support staff will be available for any student who may need support during this time.
Sincerely,
Shawn Woodward
Superintendent
