Following the resignation of School Board Director Sarah Johnson, the remaining four board members must fill the vacant School Board Director of District No. 4 position by appointment. The appointed board director will serve until the next regularly scheduled board election in November 2023, at which time a director must be elected by a vote of the public for the remainder of the term, which expires in 2025.
Candidates must reside within the boundaries of Director District No. 4 (the boundary map can be found here) and be a registered voter in the state of Washington.
The nomination and application window is now open and will close on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.

Nominations
All citizens are invited to nominate candidates for the vacant school board director position, provided that the nominee is a registered voter who resides within Director District No. 4. Upon receipt of a nomination form, the superintendent will contact the nominee, provide information about becoming a board director, and invite the nominee to apply by submitting a letter of interest and resume for consideration. Nominations must be completed online, dropped off at the District Administration Office, or sent by US Mail by February 8, 2023.

Any citizen interested in serving as the School Board Director of District No. 4 is invited to apply for the board vacancy, provided that the applicant is a registered voter who resides in Director District No. 4, by submitting a letter of interest and resume.

Appointment
All completed applications received by February 17, 2023 will be reviewed by the school board and invitations for interviews will be extended to no more than five candidates.
Candidate interviews will take place in a meeting open to the public in early March. The appointment of a candidate must be approved, by a public roll call vote, by no less than three members of the board. The appointed candidate will serve until the next regularly scheduled board election in November 2023.
