Dear 5th grade families,

It’s time to start thinking about middle school! Hidden River and Park Place middle schools invite all students who will be entering 6th grade in the 2025-26 school year and their families to Sixth Grade Information Night on the dates below. You are welcome to attend one or both!

• Hidden River Middle School: March 19 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
• Park Place Middle School: March 20 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

These informational meetings, led by our middle school principals and other key staff, will focus on:

• Middle school class schedules 
• Elective class selection process 
• Navigating the transition to middle school 
• Tips for middle school success 
• Getting involved in activities/athletics 
• Parent involvement at the middle school level
• Self-guided tour of the school (at Park Place Middle School)

If your home is within the attendance boundaries for Fryelands Elementary or Maltby Elementary, your assigned middle school will be Hidden River Middle School. If your home is within the attendance boundaries for Chain Lake Elementary, Salem Woods Elementary, or Frank Wagner Elementary, your assigned middle school will be Park Place Middle School. Students may apply to attend a school other than their neighborhood school via an intra-district or choice transfer request. Transfer requests must be submitted each year.

Class registration information and timeline
For those who are unable to attend one of our sixth grade information sessions, we wanted to provide information on the middle school class registration process. 

Fifth-grade teachers will soon discuss middle school elective options with their students. Each student will bring home an Elective Request Worksheet to complete. Information about middle school classes, elective options, and a digital copy of the Elective Request Worksheet (in case the paper copy is misplaced) can be found in the Course Catalog here: Hidden River Middle School | Park Place Middle School 

Hidden River Middle School:

• March 21: Deadline for students to return Elective Request Worksheets to their 5th grade teachers.
• March 24-26: Hidden River Middle school counselors will be visiting 5th grade classes at Fryelands and Maltby elementaries to walk students through the process of officially requesting their middle school electives in Skyward/Family Access.

Park Place Middle School:

• March 14: Deadline for students to return Elective Request Worksheets to their 5th grade teachers.
• March 17-20: Park Place Middle School counselors will be visiting 5th grade classes at Salem Woods, Chain Lake, and Frank Wagner elementaries to walk students through the process of officially requesting their middle school electives in Skyward/Family Access.
