Jennifer Bumpus was originally appointed to the school board in August of 2019 to fill a vacant position after a former board member’s resignation. Jennifer occupied the seat of Director of District 5 until the recent election in November of 2021, at which time she was officially elected by the voters to continue serving as a school board director.
When asked why she wanted to serve on the Monroe School District Board of Directors, Jennifer said, “I live in Monroe, I graduated from Monroe High School, my entire family lives in Monroe, I built my business in Monroe, my children are students in the Monroe School District, Monroe is my home.
I’m excited and eager to give back to the community, the students and the families of Monroe because Monroe has given me so much.”
Jennifer’s family have been Monroe residents for over 20 years. The oldest of four children, Jennifer was the first of her siblings to graduate from Monroe High School in 2003. Jennfer and her husband, Michael, met in college at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) where she earned her B.A. in Social Sciences with a focus in political science, communication and philosophy. The couple now have three children of their own who also attend schools within the Monroe School District.
Jennifer and Michael own Elite Training Academy (ETA) in downtown Monroe, which has been recognized as one of the top professional fitness and athletic training facilities in the PNW. They have worked with thousands of athletes and their families in their development through fitness and sports. Jennifer is the head trainer of fitness boot camps at ETA and enjoys working with all levels of fitness, beginner to advanced, and says she “always looks to lovingly challenge my clients.”
Jennifer says she “believes in pouring into and serving the students and families of Monroe to the best of my ability. I’m excited to continue serving on the board to achieve this.”
