Field Restoration

Over the past several years, through community meetings, focus groups, surveys, and conversations with local athletic organizations, we have consistently heard a shared message: our community wants and needs more usable athletic fields.

The Monroe School District currently owns several outdoor fields that have the potential to meet this need, including:

  • Marshall Field
  • Memorial Field
  • The old Park Place Middle School Ball Field (located at 160th St SE and 178th Ave SE in downtown Monroe)
  • The ball field behind Frank Wagner Elementary

Many of these grass and dirt fields are underutilized due to limited upkeep and natural deterioration over time.

If approved, the February 2026 Bond would provide funding to restore and improve these fields for both district and community use, including:

  • Removing existing materials (such as sod, cinder track, and infield sand/dirt mix), regrading, and replacing with new materials
  • Installing a new mound, pitching rubber, home plate, and bases at Marshall Field, the old Park Place Ball Field, and the Frank Wagner Field
  • Regrading and adding new crushed rock in the Marshall Field parking area
  • Adding irrigation systems to water new grass on all fields
  • Replacing bleachers to enhance the spectator experience during athletic events

These upgrades would help create safe, accessible, and well-maintained spaces for students, families, athletic teams, and community members to gather, play, and connect.

*Estimated cost: $2,604,656

*Cost estimates include projected inflation through 2028, which aligns with the anticipated completion timeline for most of the proposed projects. Actual costs may vary depending on project schedules but will not exceed the total voter-approved maximum of $152,048,846.
