Salem Woods Elementary Gym Modernization
Salem Woods Elementary underwent a major modernization in 2018; however, one original building — which includes the gym, lunchroom, and music room — was not part of that update. Built in 1989, this 36-year-old structure is now showing its age and needs significant improvements, including structural repairs, a new roof, updated HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, fire systems, flooring, and fixtures.
The proposed modernization project would address these facility needs while also expanding the building to include additional classroom space. This expansion would eliminate the need for one of the existing portable classrooms currently in use.
In addition, the project would replace and enhance the school playground to provide more safe, outdoor play opportunities for students and include ADA-accessible play equipment to support students with disabilities.
*Estimated cost: $7,488,125
*Cost estimates include projected inflation through 2028, which aligns with the anticipated completion timeline for most of the proposed projects. Actual costs may vary depending on project schedules but will not exceed the total voter-approved maximum of $152,048,846.
