Softball Field - Completed April 2016

The Monroe High School girls’ softball teams now have a home of their own—right on school grounds. With the completion of the new ball field, athletes no longer need to travel off-campus for practices or games.

The project was made possible through a unique combination of funding sources:

• Timber harvested from district-owned land
• Generous grants from the Snohomish County Tourism Promotion Area Advisory Board and the City of Monroe
• Local school reserve dollars

This collaborative effort reflects the community’s strong commitment to providing first-class athletic facilities for students. 

The new field features an electronic scoreboard, covered dugouts, lighting, fencing, spectator stands, bullpen, drainage, and an all-weather turf surface that will allow the MHS softball teams and the greater Monroe community to play ball no matter the weather conditions. 

While this project was not funded by the Capital Projects Bond approved by local voters in 2015, it was considered phase one in the development of the Monroe High School ball field complex. A later phase included the addition of the baseball and utility fields, which were funded by the bond.

Baseball Field and Utility Practice Field  - Completed March 2017

The next phase of the all-weather ball field complex began in May 2016, funded solely by the Capital Projects Bond approved by local voters in April 2015. This phase included the addition of an all-weather baseball field and a utility practice field.

The new baseball field features an electronic scoreboard, covered dugouts, bullpen, batting cages, lighting, fencing, spectator stands, drainage, and an all-weather turf surface that makes practice and games possible, even in the pacific Northwest rain. In addition, the utility practice field features covered dugouts, fencing, drainage, and an all-weather turf surface.

Both fields were designed by DA Hogan & Associates and built by A-1 Landscaping & Construction, Inc.

The baseball field was completed in March 2017, just in time for the Bearcats’ home opener against Bishop Blanchet. The Bearcats marked the occasion with an 8-0 win, highlighted by a ceremonial first pitch thrown by 2017 MHS Hall of Fame inductee Tod Johnson.

The completion of these fields represents a lasting investment in Monroe High School’s student-athletes and the greater community, ensuring that athletes have high-quality. easily accessible facilities to develop their skills, compete, and create lifelong memories, no matter the weather.
