Purpose of the Committee:

The purpose of the committee to support the school district in the materials adoption process for updated Comprehensive Sexual Health Education Materials. Per the Monroe School District policies, this committee serves to provide community norms for Sexual Health materials. Within this process, the committee serves in an advisory role, ensuring that materials adopted by the Monroe School District are reflective of community norms and values, while also following state and local legislation.

The goals of the committee are as follows:

  1. To identify overarching community goals and norms that our staff will use in identifying comprehensive sexual health materials to be used in the Monroe School District.

  2. To serve as a communication link between the committee and the larger community, ensuring that any proposed Sexual Health Materials have input and feedback reflective of the Monroe School District community.

  3. To recommend materials to the Instructional Materials Committee for review and recommendation to the School Board

Scope of Work:

The committee will meet as a whole group three (3) times throughout October and November to achieve Goal 1 (see attached schedule). During the early winter, certificated staff will identify and propose materials for adoption. In the late winter, the whole group will meet (4) times to review the lessons within the proposed curriculum and seek community input on the proposed curriculum.Information for the Community:
