School district, local leaders and student representatives ceremoniously broke ground June 23, 2016 to kick off the modernization of Park Place Middle School (PPMS). The largest bond project approved by local voters in 2015, the $69 million modernization of Park Place Middle School will feature interior hallways to provide greater safety and security for students as well as modern and flexible classrooms to meet the needs of today's student.
Demolition of buildings C, D and E and subsequent construction of new facilities are set to begin days after students dismiss for summer vacation. In addition to construction of a new 2-story academic building, phase one will also include the construction of a new auxiliary gym that will be attached the the existing gymnasium and new all-weather outdoor sport facilities. Completion of phase one is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2017 school year.
The new and modernized facilities were designed by Integrus Architecture of Seattle and will be constructed by Cornerstone Construction of Bothell. The second phase of the project will modernize and expand the existing gymnasium, add specialized classrooms and construct a new office and commons. Completion is expected in September 2018.
