Some of our schools receiving modernization work will no longer have a need for some of their portables on campus. These portables are being temporarily stored throughout the district while prep work is happening at their future locations.
If you've been by Park Place Middle School, Frank Wagner Elementary or Salem Woods Elementary this summer, you've probably noticed some BIG changes! With the demolition of old buildings, construction of new facilities, and groundwork for new parking lots and bus lanes underway, some of our schools are looking very different!
In addition to these exciting changes, you may notice some other things changing throughout the district this summer. With the newly added classroom capacity at our schools under construction, there is no longer a need for some of the portables on those campuses. A few of those portables have been demolished, some are staying put right where they are and a few in good condition will be relocated to other campuses throughout the district.
Permitting and site work is required prior to placing a portable on a school campus, therefore the portables that are being relocated are being temporarily stored while the prep work takes place at other schools. These temporary storage locations include the parking lot at the ball fields on 178th Avenue in Monroe and the parking lot next to the tennis courts on the Monroe High School campus. The portables will not be permanently placed at these locations.
