School may be out for the summer, but we are continuing to make sure library books are accessible and available for our students to check out! For the second summer in a row, the Monroe School District Book Mobile is traveling around the district and stopping at designated locations each week so that students may continue to check out library books all summer long.
With the goal of keeping books in students' hands throughout the summer, the MSD Book Mobile brings books to students who may not live in close proximity to the local public library. With a rotating selection of books from all genres for students of all ages, students are sure to find a book to enjoy inside the small school bus filled with books.
In partnership with our transportation department, book mobile stop locations were selected based on student population density in neighborhoods and distance from the local public library; however, stop locations may be adjusted throughout the summer based on student visitors at each stop.
Book mobile stop locations and times can be found here.
Through regular reading, students develop confidence, fluency, increase vocabulary, and stretch their imagination. Studies show that when students continue learning over the summer months, they are more prepared for the start of a new school year. Thanks so grant funding for summer learning, we are so excited to be able to offer our students access to books via our book mobile so that they can continue to exercise their growing minds.
