At Monroe School District, Joe coordinates the Monroe Community Coalition and supports schools to ensure students are ready to learn and able to reach their full potential. Joe Neigel has served the community as a Sultan City Council member since July of 2010. He is part of the Sultan Community Coalition, serves on United Way’s CORE committee, and is an alternate on Community Transit’s Board of Directors. Neigel has been in the field of substance abuse prevention for more than a decade, helping to implement prevention coalitions across Snohomish County. Neigel is recognized across the state of Washington as an expert speaker on the topics of substance abuse prevention and trauma, particularly with regard to the study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). His community guide, “Prevention Tools: What Works, What Doesn’t,” is printed and distributed to coalitions and communities statewide by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.
