Molly Barnes

Elected as the Director of District 3 in November of 2021, Molly Barnes credits her desire to be a voice for her own three Monroe School District students as her primary motivation to run for her position. But not only did Molly want to advocate for her own students, she also is passionate about being a voice for all of the other parents and students in our community.

“I believe all parents should feel heard and have direct input into their child's education. I want our educators to feel supported and have access to the training and resources they need, equipping them to meet each child where they are at,” says Molly. “I am excited for this opportunity to give back to my community and serve the students and families in our district. I am hopeful that we can unite together as a community to accomplish great things for our students.”

Born and raised in Washington, Molly graduated from Highline High School in 2003. She then went on to graduate from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Exercise Science. Now, Monroe has been home to the Barnes family for 16.5 years. Her and her husband have three rambunctious boys, which bring immense joy into their lives, but Molly admits they also bring plenty of opportunities for growth. Molly is currently a full-time homemaker and primary teacher for her boys, who attend Sky Valley Education Center.

Molly says she is ”humbled and grateful for this opportunity to represent the parents, students and community of Monroe as Director.”
