CERTIFICATED

Pam Duncan Ulsh
Resource Teacher at Chain Lake Elementary

from left to right: interim supt dr larsen and pam duncan ulsh

You work hard (beyond hard) each and every breathing moment of each and every day. You have a full (plus 20 kids) caseload of the most challenging and 'out of the box' students. You arrive when distress calls are made.  You create when things need to be created. You make the hard calls to families and say it all with kindness and grace. You listen as parents accuse you/us/them of failure, take a breath & then brainstorm new ways to reach their child. You inspire with positivity and professionalism. Cheers to your 40+ years of changing lives and inspiring others.

CLASSIFIED

Juan Carlos Hernandez
Student Support Advocate at Frank Wagner Elementary

from left to right: interim supt dr larsen and juan carlos hernandez

Juan is new to FWE and new to his role as our Student Support Advocate. Yet in this short amount of time he has become an integral part of our school community. He has made deep, meaningful connections with so many of our students. He is an important resource for our staff and for our families. He is guided by a desire to do what's best for the students at FWE and he is committed to working as part of our team to provide the best support and care for our students.

Nomination #2
Carlos is the definition of someone who wears their heart on their sleeve. Empathy, kindness and patience are his powers. I feel our school has greatly benefited from his presence. Carlos is the example we should be looking at when we are dealing with children and their behaviors. Carlos sees the whole child and not just the problem areas. Carlos builds trust and relationships. Without relationships, there is nothing. Thank you Carlos! I count myself lucky to be his colleague!

Nomination #3
Carlos has started this position this year after serving for years in the security department. He has a calming spirit that helps to ease the stress kids have when they are in difficult situations. Carlos has a smile that is contagious when he is working with the students at Frank Wagner. In a very short time he has adapted to his role with a skill set that can only be described as natural. He is caring and consistent with the students and helps them to advocate for themselves and their families. Carlos creates an environment where children feel safe to share the struggles in their home and seek help to make their lives better. Carlos has made the role as SSA at Frank Wagner very successful by connection with other staff and other service providers. He has brought families together with the critical support that they need to become self-sustainable. Monroe is lucky to have such a compassionate man in this role. Thank You.

Nomination #4
Carlos started as an SSA at Frank Wagner ES in the fall of 2022, one month after the school year started. He hit the ground running and has learned the job quickly, been a great collaborator, connects well with kids and families, and is an integral part of the Monroe School District BHT. Carlos encourages his teammates and is always ready to help out when needed.

Nomination #5
I have been inspired by Carlos's case management, he provides clear communication and tangible community resources for the students and families that he serves. In addition to serving his Frank Wagner families Carlos has made himself available to assist his fellow SSA's with home visits including Spanish interpretation when needed.

Nomination #6
Carlos is an amazing advocate for students and families who also really values his role. While he is learning his role he is also bringing new ideas and connections to our team. He has a natural way of speaking with students in a trauma informed way that results in being a trusted adult on campus, especially with our most vulnerable students.

ADMINISTRATOR

from left to right: interim supt dr larsen and ana apter

Ana Apter
Principal at Chain Lake Elementary

Ana goes above and beyond to put students first each and every day. She is on the ground supporting students who may need a little extra. This could be someone to listen to them, a snack or an alternative activity for a bit. Ana sees the possibilities not the limitations when she problem solves. Ana is a Cheetah who cares!
