Dear Monroe High School students and families,

As we prepare for next year’s transition to a 6-period schedule at Monroe High School, we are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.

With this schedule change, the number of credits required for graduation must be adjusted for each graduating class. Any changes to graduation requirements require formal approval by the school board, and earlier this week, the board approved the new requirements.

Starting in the 2025-26 school year, the updated graduation requirements will be:

Monroe High School Graduation Credit Requirements

We are committed to offering robust credit recovery options to help students stay on track for graduation and acceleration options for students who want to get ahead or have more room in their schedules for electives of interest. While the specifics are still being finalized, these options will include expanded summer programs and the possibility of enrolling in zero-period or seventh-period classes. Once those details are finalized, we will share additional information.

2025-26 Registration Information
Course registration for the 2025-26 school year is right around the corner and we want to keep families in the loop so that they can support their students in selecting courses for next year. 

Students will attend Homeroom every day during the week of February 24-28, 2025 (there will be no Flex period) so students can complete their High School and Beyond Plan and start working on planning their course selections for next year. 

Here is a brief overview:

Feb 24 and 25 - Complete High School and Beyond Plan in Homerooms

• This is achieved through an online program called Xello, which takes students through different lessons and paths as they work on preparing themselves for life after high school.
• As part of this, they will also look at what courses they need in order to graduate and prepare them for the next part of their lives.

Feb 26 and 27 - Course request planning in Homeroom

• Students will watch a video from our counselors going over the process of how to request courses.
• Students will receive a course request worksheet and have time to plan their course requests for next year. Counselors and teachers will be available to answer questions.

March 3 - Elective Fair at lunches in PAC

• Once students have reviewed the course catalog and thought about what courses they want to take next year, we will have an elective fair during lunch so students can learn more about our electives options, how they apply to their interest areas, and talk to other students and teachers who are involved in those electives.

March 5 and 6 - Course requests for grades 9-11 in English classes

• Counselors will be available to help students, as will their English teacher, who has been trained on the courses and graduation requirements.
• Students will login to Family Access and follow the process to officially request their courses for next year.

As registration gets closer, we will send additional communication to you with the updated course catalog, course request planning form, and other updated information.
