As we work to increase students' sense of belonging at school this year, one of our strategies is to increase their participation in extracurricular activities. Participating in these activities provides avenues for students to experience social connections, shared interests, recognition, and a sense of purpose, contributing to a positive and inclusive school experience.

To increase students' access to after-school extracurricular opportunities, we are introducing Activity Buses this spring for students participating in athletics. Starting March 4, 2024, and continuing through the end of May, these buses will transport our middle and high school students to designated stops across our district Monday through Thursday.*Note: Hidden River Middle School already offers a separate after-school Activity Bus.

There is no cost for students to use the Activity Bus and no sign-up is required. Our students are welcome to ride the Activity Bus as much or as little as they want! Hidden River Middle School students attending athletic practices at Park Place Middle School are also welcome to ride the Activity Bus after practice as well.

Buses will be labeled with signage indicating which route they will travel: South/West, North/East, as outlined below. If your student will be riding one of our Activity Buses, please ensure they know which bus they should ride and which of the designated stops they should get off at. Our Activity Buses are unable to deliver students directly to their homes, so families may need to arrange their own transportation from the designated stops to their homes.

The Activity Buses will depart Park Place Middle School at 4:45 p.m., then pick up students at Monroe High School, and depart MHS by 5:15 p.m. The Activity Buses will then deliver students to the locations and times listed below (times are approximate):

• Maltby Community Club - 5:39 p.m.

• State Route 203 @ North High Rock Road - 6:12 p.m.
• Coffee Stand @ Tualco - 6:12 p.m.

NORTH/EAST BUS 

• Sky Valley Education Center - 5:23 p.m.
• Roosevelt @ 131st  - 5:28 p.m.
• Robinhood Ln @ Airport - 5:39 p.m.
• Rainier View @ 199th - 5:45 p.m.
• Chain Lake Elementary - 5:49 p.m.
