School Climate & Culture Survey - for Families

School Climate & Culture Survey - for Families

Dear Monroe School District families,

We are conducting our annual survey to gain insight into the perspectives of students, families, and staff about the climate and culture in our schools. This survey is facilitated using a platform called Panorama. As you may remember, families were invited to take part in this survey last spring, and our students participate twice a year: once in the fall and again in the spring.

Understanding that a positive and inclusive school environment plays a vital role in enhancing students' academic success and overall well-being, the data collected from these surveys guides us in setting clear goals for school climate and culture. These goals are aimed at enhancing both individual schools and the district as a whole, allowing us to track improvement over time.

Following last spring's survey data, each school set goals to increase students’ sense of belonging this school year (in case you missed it, those goals can be found here). The data collected this spring will indicate whether these targets were achieved and guide the setting of measurable goals for the upcoming school year.

The student survey will be open from April 15-30 and students in grades 3-12 will complete the survey during the school day (SVEC students will take the survey later this spring). Each school will determine the schedule for when students will participate in the survey during this timeframe, which will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Example survey questions can be viewed here: students in grades 3-5 | students in grades 6-12

Families may opt their student out of taking this survey by emailing Jennifer Murphy, Director of Curriculum & Assessment, at: murphyj@monroe.wednet.edu. Students can also tell their teacher that they do not want to take the survey. If you previously opted your student out of taking the survey in the fall, you do not need to do so again.

Families are invited to take the survey now through May 3, 2024. If you have children attending multiple schools in the district, we ask that you please complete a separate family survey for each school your children attend. This helps us better understand your views of the climate and culture in each individual school and set specific and meaningful goals for improvement.

Take the survey here.

As part of our commitment to open and transparent communication, we will share the survey results, update you on our progress in achieving our improvement goals, and outline our plans for addressing any areas of concern.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Murphy
