Student Parking

Student parking on campus is a privilege. As outlined in our School Handbook, all students who park on campus during school hours must have a school-issued parking permit. This helps us ensure that only authorized vehicles are on site, it helps us identify those who are violating traffic safety rules, and it helps us monitor late arrivals and early departures. All of these things are in support of our goal to maintain safety on our campus.

How to Apply for a Parking Permit

  • Complete the Parking Permit Application (available in the main office or online).
  • Provide a copy of your valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Pay the permit fee:
    • &50 for a full year or $25 for second semester only.
    • Payment can be made by check (payable to Monroe High School) or online here (log into your account → select your student → “Items at Student’s School” → “Parking”).

Once approved, students will receive a parking permit decal to place in the lower left corner of the driver’s side window. Those who regularly leave campus early for an approved reason, such as early release or Running Start, will get an additional sticker for their parking pass so that we can easily identify who has permission to leave campus during the school day. This sticker must be displayed with the parking permit decal.

Student Parking & Driving Regulations on Campus

Students driving to Monroe High School must adhere to the following expectations that are outlined in our School Handbook:

  • Park only in designated student spots; please do not park in staff or visitor spaces
  • Do not park in handicap spaces without a permit, fire lanes, sidewalks, or grass areas.
  • Follow the campus speed limit of 10 MPH and drive safely, following all road rules and posted signs.
  • Students may not be in the parking lot or in their vehicles during the school day unless they have a pass from a teacher or the office.
  • Monroe High School is a closed campus. Consequences for driving off campus without proper permission during school hours, may include temporary suspension of the parking pass. Multiple offenses could result in the loss of parking privileges permanently.
  • Keep the area around your vehicle clean—litter must be disposed of properly.
  • In accordance with student conduct rules, possession of alcohol, tobacco, vaping devices, drugs or paraphernalia, firearms, or dangerous weapons extends to a student’s vehicle.
  • Student vehicles are subject to searches. Parking lots may be periodically patrolled by drug-sniffing dogs when students are not in the vicinity. If a dog alerts on a vehicle, school officials have the authority to conduct a search. Refer to the District Search and Seizure Policy and Procedure for details.

Enforcement & Consequences

Students who do not have a valid parking permit or fail to follow the rules outlined above will receive the following penalties, and parents will be notified:

  • 1st Offense: Written warning
  • 2nd Offense: $25 ticket (added to fine list)
  • 3rd+ Offense: $25 ticket (added to fine list), possible revocation of parking privileges, and additional school consequences

Parking permit fees and fines collected go into our parking lot fund for maintenance and future improvements.

Monroe High School assumes no responsibility for vehicles stolen or damaged while on school property.
