Montessori Partnership

Montessori is a hands-on learning experience developed by Maria Montessori, an Italian physician, philosopher, and educator. Students are actively engaged throughout the day, using specially designed materials that provide concrete, multi-sensory learning experiences and self-directed learning. The Montessori classroom changes and grows with the developmental needs of each child. SVEC’s Montessori Co-op is open to K-10th grade students.

Family Involvement

It is expected that each Montessori family contribute at least 30 hours of volunteer time to our program each year. There are many ways to do this and each volunteer opportunity improves the learning experience for all of our students.

Families Who Find Success in our Montessori Co-op:

  • Provide an enriched home environment that compliments the Montessori philosophy.
  • Are comfortable with students being exposed to the content of Cosmic Education and the Five Great Lessons.
  • Embrace the blending of Montessori philosophy with homeschooling and public alternative schooling.
  • Are excited to be one of their child’s primary educators!

In Montessori schools throughout the world, children develop the habits and skills of lifelong learners. Within the prepared environment of the Montessori classroom, students learn in educational partnership with parents, peers, and trained guides. Montessori students develop self-confidence because their interests are heard and honored. When a child’s learning is self-directed and self-initiated, they will engage in a process of mastery learning which develops their unique potential.

Our Staff

“A child who has become master of his acts through long, pleasant and interesting activities in which he has engaged, is a child filled with health and joy and remarkable for his calmness and discipline. .”
