About

Salem Woods Elementary School believes in the development of lifelong learners who can confidently meet the demands of an ever-changing world. We are dedicated to academic challenge and success for every student. Our aim is that each student gains knowledge and skills, works cooperatively with others, and develops feelings of self-worth.

Our school serves approximately students in kindergarten through fifth grade. In addition to traditional classrooms in grades K-5, we also currently have highly capable classes in grades 3-5. You can view our school boundaries here.

Salem Woods Elementary School, originally built in 1980, had a single classroom added in 1987 and was renovated in 1999. In 2018, a year-long construction project replaced and modernized the entire school, except for the multipurpose gym. This project transformed outdoor walkways into indoor hallways within a new two-story building, added clusters of classrooms with shared learning spaces, and included a new library and main office.

The new building spans 52,085 square feet on approximately 13.87 acres, with 23 classrooms and three portable classrooms, accommodating a total of 548 students. Salem Woods also features an irrigated grass playfield, a baseball field, a soft-surface play area, and a concrete play area.

School Improvement Plan

Our School Improvement Plan (SIP) is an action plan that identifies the areas we plan to focus on in the current school year, the performance goals we want students to achieve, and how we plan to collaboratively meet these goals. The plans are updated annually each fall.

School Report

School Reports show a brief snapshot of a school’s academic growth, student climate, accountability, family and staff engagement, and overall school performance. School reports are produced by the State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for each school and district in the state and updated periodically throughout the year as data becomes available.

On state assessments, students who are expected to participate but do not, such as absences or opting out, are counted as non-proficient. This may affect the school’s overall proficiency rating.
