2024-2025 Salem Woods Elementary Suggested School Supply Lists

We use many tools and supplies to facilitate learning in our schools and appreciate any help families can provide in sending supplies to school with their students. These items are recommendations and are completely optional. If your family needs assistance in purchasing supplies, please let our office know and we are happy to provide support. Thank you!

2024-25 Supply List

Kindergarten

  • Backpack (standard, soft sided)
  • 1 pocket folder (the laminated ones hold up better)
  • 3 boxes of crayons (24 count)
  • 12 glue sticks
  • 1 spiral notebook - wide rule
  • 1 box sandwich sized Ziploc baggies
  • 1 package baby wipes
  • 1 box markers (Crayola  preferred, 10 count)
  • 1 standard sized pencil box
  • 1 set of watercolors (Prang brand preferred)
  • 1 box facial tissue
  • Spill proof water bottle
  • 1 pack of of fine point dry erase markers (black only, 4 count)

*(Please do not label pencils, glue sticks or crayons, as these become part of community supplies. We change out crayons 3x during the year.)

1st Grade

  • Backpack (labeled with child's name)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • Headphones (labeled with child’s name in a gallon-sized ziploc bag)
  • Water bottle (labeled with child’s name)
  • Pencils (Ticonderoga brand preferred as they last and do not break easily when used or sharpened)
  • 4 glue sticks 
  • 2 boxes of crayons (24 count - larger boxes cannot be stored)
  • 2 plastic pocket folders
  • 1 set of watercolors (set of 8 colors only please)
  • 4 dry erase markers (dark colors preferred)
  • 1 box colored pencils (Crayola preferred as they last longer and don’t break easily when used or sharpened)
  • 2-3 big erasers
  • 1 inch, hard-sided, 3-ring binder
  • 1 primary composition notebook (these are bound, not spiral, and have a blank space for drawing at the top of each page)
  • Optional donations:
    • tissues
    • wet wipes (baby wipes)
    • ziploc bags (gallon and quart)

2nd Grade

  • Backpack (labeled with child's name)
  • 3 boxes of crayons (24 count, Crayola preferred)
  • 24 pencils (Ticonderoga preferred as they last longer)
  • 8 thin markers (Crayola preferred)
  • 4 large glue sticks
  • 4 black, skinny dry erase markers (low odor, Expo preferred)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 laminated 2-pocket folder
  • 1 wide-ruled, spiral notebook
  • 1 eraser (Pink Pearl or Pentel preferred)
  • 1 large box of facial tissues
  • 1 package of baby wipes
  • 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
  • 1 box of sandwich or gallon size Ziploc bags
  • Headphones for Chromebook (please no earbuds, label with child's name in a one gallon ziploc bag)
  • Water bottle (non-spill, labeled with child's name)

3rd Grade

  • Backpack (labeled with child's name)
  • 2 composition notebooks (wide ruled, 100 pages, 1 subject)
  • 1 spiral notebook (wide ruled)
  • 2 boxes pencils (Ticonderoga preferred, 24 count)
  • 2 packs thin dry erase markers (4 count, black, Expo brand preferred)
  • 1 pack colored pencils and/or crayons
  • 1 pack markers (not skinny, Crayola preferred)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 pencil box (no pencil pouches please)
  • 1- 1 ½ inch 3-ring binder (no zipper/velcro or trapper keepers please)
  • 1 jumbo glue stick (Elmers brand preferred)
  • 1 set of headphones to keep at school (no bluetooth, comfortable for your student to wear)

Please NO packages of loose leaf lined notebook paper

  • Optional donations:
    • 1 pack unscented baby wipes

Excel 3/4 Grade

  • 1 pack of highlighters
  • 1.5 inch simple 3-ring binder
  • Dividers with tabs
  • 1 pack low-odor dry erase markers (Expo preferred)
  • 4 medium tip black pens
  • 1 pack colored pencils
  • 1 pack of Post-it notes
  • 1 pack of colored washable markers
  • 1 pack of pencil cap erasers
  • 4 composition notebooks (wide ruled)
  • Headphones (not bluetooth, must be kept at school)
  • 1 box of tissues
  • 1 package lined notebook paper (wide ruled, reinforced)
  • Optional donations:

4th Grade

  • 1 or 1.5 inch 3-ring binder (please do not send 1.5 or 2 inch binders)

  • 1 wide-ruled spiral notebook (100 pages or more)
  • 48 pencils (Ticonderoga preferred)
  • 2-3 big pink erasers
  • 1 box colored pencils (24 count)
  • 8 black fine-tip dry erase markers
  • 5 black Sharpies
  • 2 highlighters
  • 1 pair scissors
  • 4 glue sticks
  • 1 laminated folders (for take-home work)

5th Grade

  • 1 mechanical pencil (0.9 mm lead)
  • 5 highlighters (pink, orange, yellow, green blue)
  • 10 count super tip markers (Crayola preferred)

  • 3 composition books (wide-ruled)
  • 1 three-ring binder for science (2-inch white with clear front cover)
  • 1 three-ring binder for writing (1-inch white with clear front cover)
  • 1 set 5-tab dividers for binder
  • 2 pencil pouches (1 for art supplies, 1 for everyday)
  • 1 two pocket folder
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • Headphones (not bluetooth)
  • 1 white cotton t-shirt (for class tie-dying activity)
